News
- - ONR VSW/SZ MCM Meeting
- Elise and Roy will participate in the Office of Naval Research's Third
Very Shallow Water/Surf Zone Mine Countermeasures Meeting in Panama
City, February, 2001.
- - AAAI'2000
- Elise attended a workshop on constraint-based reasoning at AAAI in
Austin in July.
- - AGENTS'2000
- Elise had a paper in the proceedings of AGENTS'2000, in Barcelona.
Roy, Elise, and Kathrina attended the conference; June, 2000.
- - New intelligent agent!
- Elise and Roy now have a baby daughter, Kathrina; January 24, 2000.
- - Orca receives new funding!
- Roy recently received a $417,000 award from the Office of Naval
Research and DEPSCoR for continued work on intelligent mission control and
context-sensitive reasoning in single-agent and multiagent systems.
- - New lab!
- With the addition of Tom Wagner to our faculty, we now have a new lab:
MaineSAIL, the Maine
Software Agents and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
- - New lab space!
- We now are in our newly-renovated laboratory on the second floor of the
Annex.
- - CONTEXT'99
- Roy and Elise attended The 2nd International and Interdisciplinary
Conference on Modeling and Using Context (CONTEXT99) in Trento, Italy,
Sept. 9-11. Both have papers in the proceedings.
- -UUST'99
- Roy and Elise attended The Eleventh International Symposium on Unmanned
Untethered Submersible Technology (UUST99) in Durham, NH, August 23-25. Roy presented a
paper co-authored by Jason Mailman. It was
well-received, despite the (usual) failure of projection technology!
- - AAAI'99
- Roy, Elise, John, Chuck, and Mark attend AAAI'99 in Orlando, FL.
Very hot! But a good conference. One of us even got to see the shuttle
launch.
- - AAAI'99 Workshop on Reasoning in Context for AI Applications
- Roy and Elise were co-organizers (with colleagues from the University
of Paris VI) of the AAAI'99 Workshop on Reasoning in Context for AI Applications,
held July 19. John also attended the workshop.
- Congratulations, graduates!
- Congratulations May graduates to Shari St. Pierre (B.A., CS), Shawnee
Kuzdzal (B.S., Math), Eva Curry (B.S., Math), and John Phelps (B.S.,
CS). Shari has taken a job, while the other three are going to grad
school (Eva at Rutgers in math, John and Shawnee at UMaine in CS). Also
congratulations to December graduate Matt Hall, who has taken a job in
Washington, D.C.
